Is located in the town of Veglie to the far south of Apulia (Puglia). Where the terrain consists of a flat peninsula, the climate is quite hot yet mediated by breezes that blow in from the Adriatic and Ionian seas. The traditional wines of this area are the powerful inky reds made from Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera but Apulia boast the largest array of varietals in the south.
AVD was founded in 1999 by recognizing the untapped potential for fine winemaking in the region and began skillfully utilizing its resources. This young energetic New World company with traditional Old World methods and techniques began utilizing the grapes grown in Puglia to produce premium, quality wine for both national and international markets. The grapevines are positioned to maximize the daylong saturation of sunlight for juicer and plumper nectars.
Is located in the southeastern part of Italy in the Apulia (Puglia) region. The winery still uses traditional winemaking, with the sophistication of modern equipment and improved techniques in vinification and aging. The privately owned vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 meters an ideal habitat for grapes of this area and cultivated by experienced Old World vintner. The climate is dry, even arid, making irrigation a necessity. Water is obtained from the rivers or melting snow of the mountains. Soils are semi-sandy and gravelly, ideal for quality grapes.
